A key page with your own symbols
Tick the bullets and signifiers you use, add your own symbols and a colour code, and download a key page sized to your notebook. Free, no sign-up.
Print at 100% or actual size, never “fit to page”. The 50 mm check line under the page tells you if the scale is right.
What goes on a key page
A key lists the marks you use so you can read your own notes at a glance: a dot for a task, a cross when it is done, an arrow when it moves to another day, a circle for an event and a dash for a note. Tick the ones you use and leave the rest off. A key you can remember is better than a long one.
Adding your own symbols
Write a symbol, an equals sign and what it means, one per line: for example @ = Waiting on someone. A symbol can be up to three characters. Yours are added under the standard ones.
Adding a colour code
Give each colour one meaning, such as work, home, health or money, and pick the colours to match the pens or highlighters you own. Leave a label empty to keep that colour off the page.
Printing at the right size
Open the PDF and print it at 100% (some printers call this “actual size”), not “fit to page”. Each PDF has a 50 mm check line under the page: if it measures 50 mm on your printout, the scale is right. Cut along the corner marks and glue or tape the page in.
